About

This blog is being run by the Rev. Wm. “Beau” Wagner. I am a late vocation Episcopal Priest (Presbyter). I have served the last 10 years in a small parish in Maine. The town lost its last factory a few years ago and is struggling with its identity.

I am married and have two sons. One in graduate school and one in college.

I am a graduate of Portsmouth Abbey Boarding school in Portsmouth RI, class ’73. I took a BA in Religion from Boston University, cum laude ’76. After college I started graduate school at the American University in Cairo. I was studying Islamic history. After a semester I changed direction. I returned to the USA. I have a J.D. from Georgetown Law Center, ’80 and an M.S. in accounting from Georgetown graduate school of Business, ’84.

I spent 3 years working for Arthur Anderson. Two more working for Chase Manhattan. I began to find myself as the CEO of a small non-profit: the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of Greater New York. I explored my artistic side, studying sculpture at the Arts Students’ League in NYC.

My experiences at and around ground zero in the aftermath of the 9-11 attack profoundly affected me.  I reexamined my life and explored my faith more deeply. Eventually I attended the Alliance Theological Seminary (Manhattan campus) and graduated in 2007.  I was ordained to the transitional Deaconate in June of 2007 and to the priesthood in December 2007, the Episcopal Diocese of Albany under the Rt. Rev. William Love. I am currently resident in the Episcopal Diocese of Maine.

In parish ministry I have found challenges and blessings. I have changed and grown in my faith.  I hope to use this blog site to share what I have learned over the years. I pray that my musings will always honor god and perhaps help you as well.

I was inducted to the very informal fraternity of St. Michael the Archangel a number of years ago. As such I strive for my personal sanctification and the sanctification of all.

My personal motto is Semper pro Deo  et gloriam Dei. Always for God and God’s glory.
